It was an absolute blast to do Ryan and Jess’s engagement photos! Them being so relaxed in front of the camera made it easy to get great shots. I really like to put people in a general pose and then let them do their own thing. The phrase I always use is “playing not posing”. Candid photos look so much more natural. The best way to get those candid expressions is to simply be in the moment with your significant other and forget the camera is even there.
Luckily we also got some behind the scenes photos! As always I did what it took to get the best angles. Whether that meant laying in the mud, contorting myself into a pretzel, or sitting in plants (while also making sure I wasn’t damaging them).
We did their photos at both the Bucks County Community College and the Schofield Ford Covered Bridge in Tyler State Park. It was a beautiful fall day and the light we had was spectacular. I often shoot with strobes and softboxes outdoors but it’s always nice to leave the heavy gear in the car. Unfortunately while at BCCC we were approached by a security guard stating that from then on professional photographers would need to purchase a $100 pass to work on the property. If you plan on having your shoot there you might want to inform your photographer!
